Movie Scanning

Transfer your 8mm, Super 8, and 16mm movie film to DVD and other modern digital media files and formats using state-of-the-art professional equipment.

Our equipment scans at 16:9 and exported to MOV format in 576p SD (PAL), 720p HD or 1080p HD.  In 1080p HD format, vertical bars will be visible on either side of the image when it is played back. If HD format is required, movies will be scanned at approximately 964p and our software will gently nudge the output by 10%. SD outputs in PAL or NTSC are no problem.

We can also produce Numbered Image Sequences, should this be required. Every image in the transfer will be captured for individual editing or archiving and saved to a separate file.

Since every single image is captured individually, movies can be transferred in a wide range of speeds: 15,16,16.66,17, 18, 20, 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97 and 30 fps. We normally select a speed to match realistic everyday movements, but the choice is yours.

MOV files can be readily edited on you Mac or PC with your favourite editing program such as Adobe Priemiere Pro. However, we can also transfer them to a wide range of formats such as MP4 ot AVI at an additional cost.

Our costs start at 0.50 cents/minute for a basic transfer. If you would like to calculate your own estimate and extras, please CLICK HERE.

Handle old film with care!

Old film is brittle. Just running it through that old projector you found at a garage sale can cause irreparable damage. The heat from old-style lamps in projectors can melt the old film in the blink of an eye. Our modern equipment uses LED technology that is brighter than old-style projector bulbs with no heat!
